The 2024 International Symposium for West African Studies (ISWAS), held at the University of Abomey-Calavi in Benin Republic, was undoubtedly a resounding success.
It truly would not have been possible without the contributions of esteemed individuals such as Professor Chunying An from the prestigious Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, whose expertise and dedication were invaluable.

And how can we fail to mention the unwavering support and unparalleled leadership of our very own Professor Shurong? She has consistently stood by the side of our West African community, blazing trails and embodying the spirits of both Yaa Asantewaa and Maya Angelou. I, for one, am honored to have such a remarkable role model, true mother, and mentor in her.

My sincerest admiration and appreciation for her exceptional work, which is truly treasured and cherished by all.
